For specific projects where getting your site banned isn’t an issue then dubious methods can be incorporated.

However, you don’t need to resort to those tactics if you’re planning to be around a while. Use SEOQuake, Spyfu etc. to spy on your direct competitors (ahem!).

If you can afford it, outsource the tasks for faster results. I oursource my work and just project manage.

I have been doing seo for more than 6 years and your right reciprocal linking is dead on its feet, 3 way linking is a better bet or even 4 way linking, but then it gets a little more involved. There are many ways to get back-links and some unethical black hat methods of which I wont divulge here as its not a good idea for sites that need staying power. 75% of seo is now based on a well thought out linking strategy. on-page SEO still has its place and can helping very competitive placement..

I agree web traffic or lack of it can make or break a website. Whilst using black hat can bring considerable benefits in the short term, it’s not a technique that should be used adhock. Company websites need to be trusted by both the search engines and its users, if a website is found to be breaking the rules and discovered by the Google the site will be penalized in the rankings, or in the worse case banned, this makes a company website worthless in the long term. Black hat is a technique that is good for sites that need fast traffic and don’t need to be around long, such as adsence sites etc:

We are seo specialists and would not use black hat on our cients sites as this is dangerous ground to tread, as least for seo companies working on well established sites

Haven’t been working on it enough, its ticking me off though.
if you want to get it off their site you need to write a 10 page essay giving proof that you own the site.
They can stick that where the sun doesn’t shine, they shouldn’t be scraping my content anyway, other companys that do the same at least give you good links and don’t allow the SE’s to see the content but this company use your content and give you CRAP backlinks, they don’t use the title as a link they add a small Read more button THANKS!!!!!
