Vista, well too me it sounds like a load of hot air.

Lets start off from looking at Windows 95/98.

Windows 95: It was a break through in computer operating systems, I still have 95 running on a machine somewhere you compare it to any before that and you will see that it was unbelievable at how good it was it practically lead the way to our more modern operating systems like XP and for this windows will never be forgotten.

Windows 98/SE: I was a user of this for many many years it was very recent that I actually switched to XP maybe a year ago I was still using 98SE fabulous operating system had the 95 feel too it but with a much wider range of usage.

Windows ME: This was pretty much a failure you couldn’t see anything new about it, 98 was still loads better than ME, so nothing else I can put here really.

Windows XP: Now were getting to the big players, XP was simply amazing with its looks and many more features one of the biggest features I can think of now are “plug and play” and this was a large reason why a lot of people switched from 98.

This based on NT also another operating system called Windows NT didn’t really see much of it but its no widely known for being put into many operating systems like Win2k and WinXP so as for XP I can’t really say it will be remembered for life but it was brilliant.

Windows Vista: I shouldn’t really be saying much on this operating system because it isn’t really had a decent release yet we still have loads of updates etc…

So lets start by saying resource hog, most of your resources are put into making the Aero Glass design look nice, I can get a glass look in Linux and it doesn’t take a damn super computer to power it I can put it on a 333mhz machine with 64mb ram!

Security features are just updated old versions with their names changed like windows defender all that has happened is that its been updated nothing new.

I can see Microsoft stopping support of XP etc to make people switch to Vista but if that ever happens I’m switching to Linux/Mac but only if they don’t support if for the rest of the 10 years since it was released.

LOL, its true about the glass effect, but microsoft want people to buy new PCs regularly, “complete with new copies of windows installed” that way they make more money.
Thats why vista will take up so much resources (that and microsoft have monkeys for programmers).

Ah that’s a smart idea, but still stupid.
I wouldn’t mind to grab a copy though I like quite a lot of the new features.

I’ve also been hearing about when installing it on laptops it shortens your battery life because its pushing all your hardware to the max, now i never though about this before but its kinda obvious and i can understand why people install Linux on laptops :P.
